About the Artist
My early days included formal training in both art and education. Art won out. > I travel as much and as often as I can. Cities with history, mysterious landscapes, archeological sites, and ancient objects found in markets are a few of the things that inspire me and inform my work. I also live beside an extensive ravine and conservation area where I spend a great deal of time exploring and enjoying. This, too, is important to my subject matter, spirit, and approach to my practice. > Texture, luminosity, and nuance are essential to my work. Oil paint combined with cold wax medium and the knives, squeegees and brayers I use to apply the material, are essential tools for creating these atmospheric paintings. > Landscapes and abstracts fill my studio life. Each expresses my emotional and spiritual connection to the fleeting beauty and chaos of our shared world. > > Over the years I have been invited to teach in Asia, Europe, and North America. My work is in museums, galleries, and private collections around the world. I look forward to meeting you in my studio.
